32 Things Before 32 // Pink Hair

Pink Hair pic4

While I was on my vacation in Ohio I knew one thing for sure, that I wanted to dye my hair pink. I have had a bottle of pink hair dye for the last 2 years and I have never used it. After looking at Pinterest for hours and falling in love with light pink hair, I wanted to give it a try. The color I used is called Bubble Head Pink and is rather bright! By mixing the dye with bright white conditioner I was able to make my own light pink hair dye.

I colored my hair pink two times while I was on vacation. The first time I did it I didn't add a lot of pink dye. I was so scared of my hair being too bright! After my first attempt you could hardly even see any pink in my hair at all. Good thing though was that the conditioner left my hair super soft and healthy looking. My hair benefited from it big time.

The second time I dyed my hair I used almost the entire bottle of pink dye and just added some conditioner to lighten it a bit. I also put it on my hair while it was wet. It seemed to go on much easier that way. I left the dye on for about an hour. It turned out much better. The same day we went and visited my family and they called me Strawberry Shortcake all day long!

The dye faded pretty quickly. Which was fine because I had to go back to work. I am still not sure how they would react to colored hair so I just don't chance it. It's kind of a "common sense" thing not to do it where I work. I am not even supposed to have a piercing but I get away with that.

During my trip I had two strangers say something about my hair. A guy at a gas station in Nebraska told me he loved it. A different guy mumbled under his breath, "Pink hair" and shook his head in disgust. hahaha People are funny aren't they!? I miss my pink hair very much. It was fun while it lasted. I will defiantly be doing it again. Especially since I know I can wash it out fairly fast.
Have you or would you dye your hair a fun color?

  1. It's so pretty! This is weird but I actually love it when it was faded - I think it's perfect like that!

    1. Actually I did like it faded. The first day was too bright for me. I like the very light pink. I just wish I could keep it pink. :)

  2. I read your comment on my blog about how you redid your blog design. So I wanted to head over here and see. I love it!!! I've never been a fan of two column blogs and busy headers because they feel cluttered to me but it is your blog so I never wanted to say anything. I love that you brought it to one column and kept the header simple, letting your posts shine. I think you did a great job. :)

And you are too cute with your pink hair. I don't dye my hair much. I did it in high school and then I waited until just a little while ago (can't remember when, months ago) and I did the rainbow colors. I loved it at first and I still don't hate it but I miss my natural hair color and I've decided I'm never dying again. I just love natural and I don't want to damage my hair. I realized I keep things natural with my face, so why not with my hair. I was thinking of talking about that on the blog but for now I'm not going to think about anything blogging and just enjoy the weekend. I hope you have a blast this weekend! And cheers to a new design, to new beginnings!

    2. Thanks Aubrey. :) I really wanted my posts to shine. Especially since I seem to be sharing so many more photos. The funny thing is, the last design was more "simple" then previous designs. hahaha Over the years my blog look has changed so much. It always amazes me how I can love a design then hate it just a few months later. hahaha I've always loved simple looking blogs with lots of white space. Hopefully THIS design sticks around for awhile.

I remember your rainbow hair. The photos you posted on your blog were so pretty. I've always colored,..since the 7th grade. (Gosh that makes me feel old.) I do miss healthy "normal" feeling hair. Mine isn't too bad. Someday I will go natural but I'm just not ready yet. Whenever I have dyed my hair back to my natural color I hated it. I guess it's one of those things that you know when you are ready for the change. :) Have a great weekend friend. I hope you are starting to feel better.

  4. It looks great. I especially like the last picture of you, you look very glam with your leopard top and sweeping pink bangs.

I've had my hair black and red (not fire engine red, though, more like natural red), but those are kinda 'regular colours. I have been thinking about dying it grey (as I'm going grey anyway), but as I prefer low-maintenance, I could not deal with having to re-do the roots all the time.

    1. Thanks Annika. Doing roots gets old after awhile. I am lucky that Cody does them for me. ;) He hates it, but does it for me anyways. hahaha I actually had dark red hair in high school. Sometimes I miss it and ALMOST dye it red. Hair dye has just always been something "fun" for me. I love it. Have a great weekend! :)

  5. HELL YEAH!!! PINK HAIR!!!!!!!!!
You look fantastic. I love love love love love it. I wish your work was a bit nicer. At my work I just snuck it up on them. I started off nearly blond and added more and more colour every week. They never said anything. Hahaha
    You look amazing.

    1. hahaha That's funny. I couldn't imagine just coming in one day with hot pink and blue hair. ;) Your hair is always awesome. Some of my co-workers think I can get away with pink underneath. So, I probably will start there. Especially since I like the light pink anyways.

    1. It's funny because I had started out using some turquoise in the design and I thought, "No, pink is me." I just wanted simple and pink. :) Thanks.

  7. Strawberry Shortcake, the first time I see you I am totally going to say that. I'll be like hey my Strawberry Shortcake friend! Love the pink hair girl.

Currently my hair is purple with black roots and black/purple transitional dreads. I've been wanting it for a while and now that I a stay-at-home mom with home businesses and school, I can do it as much as I please. Might as well! I'll show you soon what it looks like! :]

  8. CUUUTE! I just dyed my hair again this weekend and was wishing I had all over blonde to save fiddling with the foils. I think if I had your hair, it would ALWAYS be pink! You look adorable :) I love the reactions you get from people... Either excitement and love, or muttering. I hear ya.

    1. It will be pink again, I just we do it on 3 day weekends I guess. hahaha It fades so quickly that my bosses may not even really notice. ;) At least I can hope so! Can't wait to see your new hair!

  9. Ah so fun! I have never in my life dyed my hair but I'm maybe going to do it this summer (like this: http://pinterest.com/pin/191895634094192540/ ) It's weird but piercings and tattoos and cutting of my hair feels way less scary than colouring it haha. Love the pink on you though. You should totally ask at work!! :) xo

    1. That hair is so pretty. Honestly the bleaching is what really kills your hair. A lot of the darker colors that you can buy won't hurt it as much or hardly at all. As long as you take care of it and use good products it's not that scary. Now what I do, hurts it. :( Cody does my roots for me though, which keeps bleach off the parts that are already blonde. You would look pretty with some red in your hair. It is a big decision. I used to have the whole under layer of my hair black. That was fun!
