The computer is pretty awesome. It lets you know how long you have been riding for, your mileage and your average speed. When we got started we were flying at around 19 miles per hour. This was a huge ego booster for me because I honestly didn't think my tiny little legs were capable of that. The trail is curvy but does not have tons of hills. Which makes it much easier then other trails I have done. I am really looking to just build my speed right now. I love the trail in Colorado because it's very scenic. Even the weeds growing are pretty...
As you are riding you can see the Rocky Mountains off in the distant. They are covered in snow in right now.
The photo doesn't do it justice. It's so beautiful.
I'm a daredevil taking photos while peddling. Most of the images were taken while in motion.
The trail is also full of wildlife...
Well, the horses aren't wild but they are pretty.
This is me at the end of the ride. Oh, I do wear 70 SPF sunblock.
I love my pale skin and wouldn't have it any other way. ;)
It used to embarrass me growing up but now I have embraced it.
Did we complete our 30 mile ride? Yes we did. Barely though. It took us a little over 2 hours to complete it with very few stops. On the way back the wind was horrible. The wind actually makes you feel like you aren't moving and you have to work so much harder. It slowed our average speed down to around 13 miles per hour instead of 19. I was so tired I didn't think I could make it, but when your car is parked at the "finish line" you keep going. Overall it was a great ride. I was very proud of myself. It's really amazing what the human body is capable of. We had so many people passing us making us seem slow. My goal is to be one of those people someday.

It's so fun to read about how you enjoy it! It makes me want to make trips with my boyfriend haha. And wow, I would freak the hell out if I saw a snake like that!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoy reading about it. I hope to inspire people to find a new hobby, especially something that involves being outside. Cody and I have been together for a long time and I would of never thought we'd be cycling together. It's very fun to be able to do it as a couple. The snake did scare me. I'm sure I could of gotten a much better photo if I was braver. Hahaha No way I was getting any closer.
Deleteyou go girl! you are too fabulous! :)
ReplyDeletePeople used to give me a hard time when I was young because I am also fair-skinned and pale, and burn easily. Well now that I'm in my 50s and my skin looks pretty darned good compared to other gals my age, I say PFFFFFFFTTTT!!! I am really glad I protected my skin when I was young!
ReplyDeletehahaha Yes, I want my skin to stay looking young. I like vitamin D and the warmth of the sun, but not the damage that will be done to your skin without sunblock. Plus, sunburn really hurts. Thanks for your comment.
DeleteTHAT SNAKE FREAKED ME OUT!!! Agghhhh
ReplyDeleteWell done. Such a huge thing to accomplish. I can't even walk up a hill without getting asthma. Hahaha
Thanks Cazz! You are so funny. ;) I still get very winded most of the time. It take a lot of riding to build up strength. Every time I peddle up a hill I think I'm not going to make it. I rode again yesterday and thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest. hahaha
DeleteTwo things:
ReplyDelete01. I know what you mean by the mountains looking breath-taking and not looking better in photos (I am surrounded by mountains in Grand Junction and pictures never come out the way I want it when I take photos of the mountains unless I am at least 100 feet away).
02. I HATE biking when its windy. haha
The mountains are just best to see in person that way you can really see it and feel it at the same time. Biking in the wind, Boo!!!! Hahaha we haven't been riding because of the wind. It's been 20 mph or faster all week. :(
