Thrifty Finds: PYREX

After watching the movie BAG IT, Cody and I were inspired to challenge ourselves to a less "plastic life." Since going Vegan we pack our lunch all the time and use reusable plastic containers. Everyone does right? We all have a million of them. Cody and I have decided that we are slowly going to start using less plastic. One thing we are doing is buying vintage Pyrex. This will replace all the plastic we use for left overs in our fridge. I found some awesome collections online that I wanted to share with you....

I love all the colors together. It's like PURE VINTAGE HAPPINESS!!!
I love that I am also shopping second hand. Too much plastic is being produced in the world and
these beautiful pieces of Pyrex are just sitting at antique malls and thrift stores waiting to be purchased!

Cody and I are thinking about buying a house and I keep thinking about how cool it would be to decorate with Pyrex.
We most likely would do a kitchen remodel and add some glass door cabinets to display all the colorful pieces!
So of course Cody and I were ready to start shopping.
We hit some great antique shops over the weekend and here is what we found... New Pyrex1 Aug 2012
We kept finding the small covered dishes in red and blue, priced at $10 each!
I am way cheaper then that. Plus I don't want the primary colors.
My favorite Pyrex pattern is Daisy, which is the large orange covered dish on the bottom.
We picked up a few other glass items as well.
A cute glass container with a yellow lid and a syrup dispenser....
New Pyrex2 Aug 2012
A few years back I started collecting the Daisy pattern. I have the mixing bowl set and a smaller covered dish!
It was so fun hunting for things with Cody yesterday.
I am so lucky to have an awesome husband who appreciates good vintage pieces!!!

Do you collect Pyrex? What pattern is your favorite??

You can view my other Pyrex HERE. I use it in my Alice in Wonderland display in my dining room.

The Capitol Building - Cheyenne, WY

I am always telling everyone to make sure that they explore their own city or town. Get out and do the things offered to you locally. Also make sure to take lots of pictures while doing so! I decided to follow my own advise and go see the Capitol Building in my little city of Cheyenne....

Capital 1 It's probably the prettiest building here where I live, besides some of the amazing old churches.
I really enjoyed photographing this beautiful old building.
Capital 2
I know we won't live in Cheyenne forever, so I want to make sure I photograph it.
I know some day when Cody and I are gray and old we'll enjoy looking back at all the pictures I took....
Capital 4 Capital 3 It's pretty isn't it? I love the tall columns.
Capital 6

The Buffalo statues still fascinate me around town. It's so different then just seeing a buckeye on a flag in Ohio. I just wish people didn't EAT Buffalo here, that I don't get at all. (Gross,...that's a another post for a different day!) I haven't seen a real Buffalo yet, except at the zoo. That doesn't really count to me though. I have many more things I hope to photograph here in Cheyenne, Wyoming in the future.

Cody & Me: Together for 9 YEARS!!!

It's hard for me to believe that Cody and I started dating today 9 years ago. People ask us often how we met. Well we were both working at Lowe's. Cody had been working there for awhile before I applied. One of my first days of work / job orientation the H.R. Manager was giving me and some others a grand tour of the store. We walked down towards the end of the store where lumber is located to see that area. That is where I first saw Cody for the very first time.

Us 8.12.12 2

He was sitting on a forklift talking to one of the other guys that worked there.
As cheesy as this sounds, we both saw each other at the same time.
We were "checking" each other out I guess you could say. LOL
I think we were about 50 feet apart. Then we stopped looking at each other and my day went on.

Us 8.12.12 1

Some time passed before we actually spoke. Sometimes I would be the cashier in lumber and be nervous knowing he would be working down there. Being new I needed help often and one day I had to ask Cody for help.
The first thing I ever said to Cody was,"If I was sheet metal, where would I be?"
He chuckled and said, " Aisle 12. " That was me trying to be funny. :)

Us 8.12.12 5

The entire story is very long, I will spare you! All summer I dreamed of being with this guy named Cody. He was all I talked about to my friends. Oh, did I mention I had a boyfriend? Oops. I was in a bad unhealthy relationship, so Cody happening couldn't of been better timing. One day I finally got the courage to go up to him and just confess my feelings. Cody later told me as I was confessing that "I had a crush on him", he could see me shaking. I was so nervous. Cody was the first guy I ever had courage to ask out myself.

Us 8.12.12 3

Cody turned me down at first, because he also was dating someone at the time. I was so crushed and heartbroken. I cried my eyes out. It took so much courage to even tell him how I felt. The connection between Cody and I was so strong even before we knew each other. I felt like I knew him already, without really knowing anything about him. It was strange really. About a month passed and Cody approached me to tell me that he dumped his girlfriend. A few days later we were dating and started calling ourselves a couple. It's been 9 years today!

Us 8.12.12 4

A lot has changed and happened in 9 years! WOW, alot!!! We both have iphones now which is really funny to me. We have always hated cell phones and wanted to get rid of them! Now we have freakin smart phones. LOL Cody just got his first pair of "Chucks" as you can see in the pictures above.

It hasn't always been sunshine and rainbows. We have had some rough times when we both thought that we wouldn't be able to go on. We got through it though and it made us stronger in the long run. We have grown together. My views on the world have changed, yet Cody's have also. So many people say as you get older you can grow apart. I am glad we have just grown closer. We have moved 7 times, we remodeled a house together, we both went Vegan, he joined the Air Force and I followed him. He is amazing and I am so thankful for the life I have everyday!!

Decor Love: CB2

CB2 (the more MODERN side of Crate and Barrel) is one of my favorite stores! They are a bit pricey for me, but I still enjoy looking at their stuff. I love the bold colors and the very "different" home decor items they carry. Here are some things I like from their website....
