Really Mother Nature? Snow Again!

Mother nature seems to think that Wyoming needs more snow and a longer winter. She does not think it's time for planting flowers, bike rides or walks at the park. It was my second day back to work yesterday and I was greeted with a snow storm. I had hoped that the Air Force base would be on a 2 hour delay this morning or even better CLOSED. Nope. I slipped my way into work. The snow started at 4:00pm on Monday and kept falling through late Tuesday night. Enough already with the winter, cold and snow!!! I wanted to share some photos with you. Especially you lucky peeps that are already wearing shorts and dresses!
This photo was taken when the snow first started. A view out my living room window.

Tuesday morning at 4:00am this is what The Weather Channel said...

The wind always makes it so hard to see outside with all the snow blowing around.
Here is what my street looks like even now...

Cody wanted to go to Home Depot. Crazy I think, but I made him drive!
April Snow 4.9.13 April Snow 4.9.13 Being from Ohio makes me used to driving in this type of weather.
However if this was Ohio that got this snow storm the roads would be closed!
Also they plow the roads in Ohio, in Wyoming they do nothing.

It was nice seeing flowers at Home Depot.

After our trip to Home Depot I now know that we can afford new windows for our kitchen. They were way less then I expected! YAY! They have a faucet that Cody and I both agree on also. Score! We also know that we can not afford wood counter tops from Home Depot. ($98 a sq ft!!!) We will have to go to IKEA for our counters. I picked out about 20 different gray paint swatches. We also started tearing some wallpaper down already. I can't wait to have a kitchen that looks like MINE. :)
So what kind of weather are you having???

What I Wore #16 {Snow in the Spring}

WIW16 Ohio Snow
I really had hoped to do an outfit post in the snow this year.
I just didn't expect it to be while I was in Ohio visiting family and friends.
Luckily I packed some winter clothes, since Spring doesn't seem to want to stick around and stay.

The above acorn necklace was a gift from the lovely Aubrey.
I thought it worked perfect with this outfit.

I took these photos at my parents house. It's a very peaceful place out in the country.
Believe it or not, my hair is pink in these photos. The dye was just too light to notice really. I plan to try again.

Our trip is going well so far. Sorry for the lack of comments and delay on replies from me. We are keeping very busy. Lots of people to visit and things to do while we are here! Our Christmas 2012

When you are in the Military and you move away from your family, Christmas is a totally different experience. Every year we would be running around to different family gatherings non stop. Now we just sit at home and do nothing. It's sad, but we just make the best of it and enjoy relaxing. This is our second Christmas in Wyoming. Cody was on call and I'm not aloud to ask for time of work during December. (This is why we don't visit Ohio.) Also the highways to drive home can get really bad and they close them often. It's not the best time of year for any sort of traveling.

We spent Christmas Eve with our friend Kara. We drank tea and coffee and ate good food. We also made homemade laundry detergent. Something we had really wanted to attempt. (Blog post to come shortly.)

Laundry Soap1

We ended up getting snow Christmas Eve night which was really pretty. We also got home from Kara's house to see that Santa had come. (The U.P.S. Driver) It kinda made me feel like a kid a again having packages waiting for you. Except these were outside covered in snow, not under the tree...

Snow packages

Our family tradition back in Ohio was to always open presents on Christmas Eve night, so that's what we did. This year my parents and I kept it simple and just bought each other ornaments. They got me the cutest Hello Kitty one. She is all decked out in PINK...

Hello Kitty Ornament Norman Bubble Wrap
Norman enjoyed the bubble wrap that the gifts came in!

When I opened my present from my in-laws it took everything I had to NOT cry. They purchased me a Sea Shepherd cycling jersey. Which not only is something I really wanted but the purchase of it also goes towards a donation. I wanted this freakin jersey so badly! It's coming all the way from Australia and has not arrived yet, so they printed out the order form and taped a photo of it on the paper...

Me jersey

The jersey is actually made from recycled plastic bottles!! The jersey couldn't be MORE PERFECT for me. :) Also the same day one of my best friends in Ohio sent me a text message with this photo...

Christmas Gift - SeaShepherd Donation
He made a donation to Sea Shepherd! That was my gift! How awesome.
My other best friend in Ohio sent me a panda stuffed animal from the San Diego zoo.
It is super cute! I really hope to make it to that zoo someday.

Christmas morning was so cold. The fresh snow that covered the streets was so beautiful. I love snow when I don't have to go outside or drive in it. It's so peaceful and pretty.

It's not Christmas if we don't watch The Christmas Story!
Tradition A Christmas Story

Then I decided that I wanted to go to the park to take a few photos. I know a lot of people don't get white Christmas's, so I figured we should take advantage of it. The only problem was it was SUPER cold. I had no gloves on. After taking about 5 minutes worth of photos my hands were numb and we headed back to our warm car. I do however have some pretty pictures to share with you...

Today // Our First Snow

While most of you are able to enjoy beautiful fall weather and maybe go to the park today, this is what Mother Nature has given Wyoming....

I really had hoped to bike some more. It was actually one of my "4 Simple Goals", but I don't know if it's going to happen now. On a happier side it is supposed to be like 60 degrees Monday. I don't always trust the weather forecast though. As you can see the weather changes very quickly in Wyoming!

Love our big tree in our backyardSnow2 10 6 12

It may sound like I am complaining, but I'm not. Today will be spent doing so much needed housework, drinking coffee and spending sometime at our friends house. Oh, and unpacking my winter clothes!!! It's weird to think that just a week ago I was in sunny Florida in 90 degree weather!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend! Enjoy some sunshine for me please! :)
