A Few of My Favorite Things

Favorite Video

Recently Cody and I watched all five seasons of the TV series Fringe. It is definitely one of my favorite shows ever. Above is one of my favorite scenes featuring the character Walter. Walter is my favorite thing about the entire show. I decided to share this scene with you because Walter has a melt down at the grocery store over the ingredients in some toaster pastries. As Cody and I were watching it we looked at each other and said, "This is so us". We always read all the ingredient labels on boxes before placing anything in the cart. The show is really cool. If you like Sci-Fi and Government conspiracy type shows you should check it out. Visit the Fringe website HERE.

A blog that I really enjoy reading is Musings of an Unapologetic Dreamer, written by Keith. The above image is one that he shared on his blog in a post called Don't Let Yesterday Take Up To Much Of Today. Keith always chooses great topics to blog about. I love how inspiration his posts can be for me. He also keeps them short and sweet a lot of time, yet they usually make you "think". Visit his blog HERE.

Currently I am obsessed with building a tiny home, living mortgage free, downsizing and downsizing some more! I love the above video by IKEA about living in a small space. I always enjoy a trip to IKEA browsing all there staged rooms. IKEA is so great about providing storage solutions for all areas of any sized home. A few weeks back I shared a post entirely dedicated to Tiny Homes HERE. Ever since I have become a bit obsessed with them! For instance, the home below I am head over heels for. It is a little over 500 square feet and AMAZING....

It's amazing how some of these tiny homes don't seem tiny at all. Open floors plans, smart design and simple decorating make these downsized homes so appealing. I've been sketching floor plans, building Sims houses and doing a lot of research on the topic the past few weeks. It will be a few years before any of this can happen for Cody and I since he has three more years in the Air Force. Plenty of time to plan and save money! You can see all the photos of the above home HERE. Check it out, it's beautiful.

Vic wrote this great post called, Monday Motivation: What drives you?
She wrote about her love for photography and why it is so important to her. It touched my heart because it's how I feel about photography. I just was never able to put it into words. She did a great job describing her feelings on picture taking.

I really want to teach myself how to knit. While I was visiting in Ohio my aunt mentioned something about coffee cozies. The light bulb went off over my head! I thought making a coffee cozy would be a good thing to try out since I have no idea what I am doing. I found this pattern that I plan to try out. I hope that I like knitting. I really want to make stuff!

Traveling Tips by Shell of Kitty & Buck

This post is so helpful. Shell listed all kinds of tips to help you out with traveling and the hardest part (I think) PACKING! I am so guilty of over packing. Just this past trip I felt like we took our whole house with us. I hope to challenge myself during our next vacation to "pack light" and use some of her tips!

Oh how I am dreaming of a hot air balloon ride this summer over the Rocky Mountains. Sadly I missed a great sale on Groupon for a ride at half price. I'm sure there will be another one though. This has got to happen. What a wonderful experience it would be.

I found this post by Katherine very interesting. She explained why she doesn't thrift. She had lots of good points and reasons. I've always loved shopping second hand and I think I always will. It did make me think about buying from smaller shops though! I'm all about helping out small businesses. :)

I really enjoyed this post by Shai talking about her Eco-Conscious daughter.
It made me feel like there is hope for our planet!

Aubrey from Project Lovegood did a post talking about her dream to build an off the grid home. After reading her post and talking to Cody about it we are actually really interested in doing this ourselves as well. I don't know a lot about off the grid homes and have so much to learn. Reading her post is a great place to start!

I have become pretty obsessed with making my own things to use in my daily life. Things like soaps, laundry detergent and household cleaners. Karen posted about her new love for coconut oil. She talks about all the lovely things you can make with it. I really enjoyed all the info and inspiration in her post. I hope to try some of the things out in the future.

Make sure your volume isn't too loud. The goats literally do SCREAM in this video. I have become kind obsessed with goats since visiting the farm sanctuary. I'm not totally convinced that all the yelling in the video is real. I do however find it very funny and I laughed so hard I cried the first time I watched it. We all need a good laugh!

Favorite Story National Parks LoveImage SOURCE

Above is Audrey Peterman and her husband Frank. She is a huge advocate for National Parks. I stumbled across her story on the National Parks Conversation Association website. She has written books about her love for all the National Parks and shares her stories about visiting them. I plan on purchasing her book, Our True Nature. In her interview on the NPCA's website she took the words right out of my mouth many times! This being one of my favorite quotes from her:

Audrey: Having the imprint of such monumental natural wonders on my spirit gives me perspective on how infinitesimal I am in the world, and yet, how important. I am part of everything. Though a small part, I am connected to everything. It allows me to take a step back from whatever challenges I’m experiencing.

Favortie Quote Eminem

I don't listen to much rap music but every once in awhile I listen to Eminem. I like a lot of his lyrics and the above quote is from one of his songs. Every time I hear it I laugh. It's so how I am. I designed the print above on Photoshop and plan to hang it in my office. It's kind of a reminder to myself that people are always going to have something to say about my lifestyle and that I need to learn to ignore it or just laugh about it.
favorite postFew Favorites Vegan Cheese PostImages from Pony Chops blog.

Chantal over on Pony Chops posted a great Vegan food review a few weeks back on (fake) cheese. When I tell people I am Vegan a lot of people say they could never give up cheese. I personally know a few vegetarians that also struggle with becoming Vegan because of their love for cheese. I was never that in love with cheese in the first place which made it very easy to give it up. For those who struggle though THERE IS HOPE! :) Read Chantal's review on Vegusto Vegan Cheese HERE.

A video of a group of Belgium Sea Shepherd's protesting whaling in Japan. I wish I could understand what they are saying. They are pretending to be whales and whalers. Then there are the Sea Shepherds who SAVE the whales from being killed. The video seems a bit crazy, but I thought it was very brave of them to protest this way.

Favorite seriesCollecting+Colours
Okay friends, I think this is so very awesome. I honestly wanted to steal this idea but I'm not that type of person/blogger. ;) Emily from Good Things started a blog post series called Collecting Colours. Last year she collected items that were all the same color and photographed them. This year she is mixing it up by selecting a two color combo. You can do items, photographs or whatever else your heart desires. Learn more about Collecting Colours HERE. I am going to be doing this by the way and featuring it monthly on my blog. I hope maybe you will join in as well.

Favorite QouteFavoriteQuote accept

I am pretty obsessed with quotes. I pin them all the time on Pinterest. I can't help it. I feel there are so many times in our lives that we may have a hard time expressing exactly how we feel. Then you read a quote in a book, poem or on Pinterest and you are like, "BINGO!" Or a quote may just be inspiring to you. This one above is words I need to live by.

A Few Of My Favorite Things #3

One of my friends sent me the link to this video the other day. I laughed so hard I cried. She knew I was having a bad day and she said, "You can't be sad when you listen to the thrift store song." She was so right. I don't watch TV or listen to the radio, so I have no idea how popular this is or how long it's been around. It's new too me and I felt it was worth sharing....

Favorite Post Twilighter by Jen

This post really made me smile. Jen writes about how she ends up in Forks, Washington by chance. She gets to visit the "twilight" town and is kindly welcomed by the towns sheriff. She hiked in Olympic National Park and shares some of her beautiful pictures. I think the area is beautiful and I hope to visit it someday. Read her post HERE.
