Rejected Decorating Projects

Some decorating ideas seem great when you first think them up. Then you try it, or you live with it for awhile, and it just doesn't work as planned.

Hallway Photo Frame Wall (January 09)

I love picture frames hung together on a wall. My plan was to spray paint all the black frames white. (which meant more "work" I didn't need in my life.) My hallway is narrow and the frames made it feel closed in. After about 5 months I decided they needed to come down. I have new plans for this area in the near future.

Landscaping ~ White Gravel (August 07)

I love white gravel. The problem is you have to buy a million bags to fill one flower bed. Since we ended up turning our red house into a white house the red mulch looks better now anyways.

Bathroom ~ circles painted on the ceiling (November 07)

Well, you can hardly even see the circles I painted on the ceiling. Painting a ceiling is terrible!!!! It is one of my least favorite things to do. It is a good thing that I didn't paint circles on the whole ceiling, since our roof leaks in this bathroom!!! We have to redo the drywall in this room since our roofer was an idiot.

Guest Bedroom ~ Gun Theme (Feb 09)

I had this room over halfway decorated when I decided I hated it. I love everything on the design board. I ended up not liking it because I painted the walls white in the room. If I would of done black walls I think I would of loved it. It's okay though because this week I made the guest bedroom my new office. I wanted to make my office the "nursery" when ever my husband and I decide to start trying to get pregnant.

waiting for mini mcdonald

I am obsessed with my Adobe Photo Shop Program and having a baby. I want to decorate a nursery so badly. I am not pregnant and should wait atleast till the end of the year to start trying to get pregnant. When I signed into my blog today, I saw that I had a new follower.

Her name is Jillian. She is having a baby girl in October. Her blog is "waiting for mini mcdonald". She is still trying to pick out her nursery decor and feels a bit overwhelmed with decisions. It is hard to pick your nursery decor! There are so many choices out there. As soon as you fall in love with one thing,.....you see something else!!!!! On her blog she is asking for advise. I thought with my sudden obsession with photo shop I would make her some design boards. :)

Design 1 ~ Girly MOD
Nursery Design Board - Scottlyn
Jillian seems to pick out modern decor the most. She likes green and pink together. (Which I must say, I also love this color combo!) This design is a bit "over the top" with the patterns and colors. It's a nursery I would love for my little girl.

Design 2 ~ Birds & Flowers
Scottlyn Design Board - Birds & Flowers
This nursery design is more calming. The design still has a modern feel & a girly look.

Design 3 ~ Pink Taffy
Scottlyn Design Board - Pink Taffy
Pink, pink, and some more pink. I love the "pink taffy" bedding.

I hope Jillian gets some ideas and inspiration from these design boards. If anyone wants to know where any of the items came from, just leave me a comment. I will get the link for you. :) Jessie

Things I Want

I made a design board for a few things I am dreaming about having.....

Now that I have a new hobby, BAKING, I want cake stands and other fun things to use for baking. Yum! Cupcakes!

I collect white vases already. I plan to put some of my collection in the bookcase.

I have some vintage autumn leaf hall china pieces that belonged to my great grandmother. I will start collecting cookie and cupcake cookbooks soon. I am also on the hunt for white cake stands and red and white kitchen items! :)

Busy Busy Busy!!!!

All I have really done this month is dig in the dirt and plant. My front yard landscaping is complete! What a great feeling!

First thing, the tree in front of the fireplace had to go!

Last month we cut the tree down, this month someone removed the stump for us!

I was finally able to buy shrubs and retaining wall to build raised flower beds.

Here is the photos with the red mulch!

Now that I am finally finished with the front landscaping, I will now do all the painting that needs done. We did get new modern house numbers to! We haven't decided where they are going to go yet. My husband still has to put white siding on the back of the house. Once we finish the siding and painting we hope to remodel our ugly hall bathroom!!!!! (To see photos of the house 2 years ago when we bought it click here!)

Also, a few months ago I talked about redecorating my guest bedroom. I have worked on that project/room, but I am not happy with it. Plus, my husband and I are thinking about having a baby. Which means I would just end up moving my office to the guest bedroom, which means redecorating the guest bedroom yet again!!! hahaha So, I do not know if that room will ever make the blog. :(

*Nursery Design Boards*

No, I am not having a baby! My husband and I are talking about it. We have to get some more work done on our house before we have a baby. I have just been playing with my Photo Shop making design boards. I really want a baby girl.

I have started to collect Alice in Wonderland items. I thought using them as my inspiration to decorate a nursery would be fun. I would love to paint some murals of Alice on the walls! I would love to collect some vintage teapots, cups, and saucers to decorate with also. I have tons of ideas, but no baby. lol Designing and Dreaming is still so much fun!!!

*April 09* (working outside finally!)

Yeah for sunshine!!!!! I have been able to work outside alot this month. It's been a great feeling. I have been happier this month due to the nicer weather. We have had a few cold days here in OHIO. One day it was 70 degrees, then the next 30 degrees!

I think I have visited all my local landscaping stores like 10 times already! I have my whole landscaping design planned out. Last month when I wrote I wasn't sure what I was going to do.

The fun has started in the yard! I have planted all around our pool in the backyard. I actually wanted to do that last year, but the weeds got over grown and I lost motivation.

Everything I planted is "little" right now. I am sure by the end of summer it will all grow much larger. :) My husband and I decided on red mulch. I am very happy with it. (By the way, lifting 10 bags of mulch hurts the next day. lol)

I also worked on my "white gravel" flowerbed. Here is what it looked like last summer.

Here is what it looks like now. I am going to sit flowerpots in the flowerbed.

I love purple flowers!

My husband and his dad have been working on cutting trees down in our yard.

I was a bit nervous watching this happen, since the tree was close to the house.

I hated to see this tree go, but it was dead and ugly. We will replant a new tree in the same spot. :)

My husband and I did some landscaping in front of our garage. We first had to clean out the white gravel, dig extra dirt out, and move the plants that were in the flower bed.

We worked from 8:00am ~ 8:00pm on the front yard. We did stop for lunch though. We made a trip to Home Depot to buy 12 bags of red mulch and this cute pom-pom tree.

Here is everything replanted in a nice straight line.

Here is a shot with everything planted and red mulch!

We live in one of those neighborhoods where everyone's yard looks perfect,...except ours. lol We are trying to pick up the pace and have a great looking yard this year finally! Oh, and lets not forget, freshly painted trim! I have lots of painting to do. I am trying to pick out some house numbers also. We are having trouble deciding. These are my favorite...

They are priced at $18.00 each from Chiasso.com! I am scared on the white siding they will blend in to much. I love them so much though!!! We could always make a painted plaque for them, so they would stand out. Anyways, back to tree work...

Again, cute little muffins watching from the window. :) The tree in front of the fireplace is now gone.

Luckly we still have a house. My husband proved me wrong, I was so nervous about not hiring someone to do it. They did a good job though. Now the real landscaping will start soon.

Thanks for stopping by.
