Inspiration: Marilyn Monroe

I have always loved the Marilyn Monroe Andy Warhol print. I used to owe it in orange. Sadly after I paid to have it custom framed, it fell down and the glass shattered. I was so upset. The print was all cut up and damaged so I had to throw it away. I know as soon as I get settled somewhere I am buying the Monroe print again and having it framed. I love the idea of hanging a few together like some of the photos below.

Weekend 9 - Holy Vinylmations Batman!!!

This weekend we didn't do any site seeing around California. Cody had to work on the base for part of Saturday, so there was no reason to make plans. Instead we spoiled ourselves with Vinylmations. This is what happens when the Disney store has a sale...
One of the fun things about collecting Vinylmations is that they come in mystery boxes so you don't know what you are going to get! You will end up with duplicates, but then you can go to the parks and trade them. There are some Vinylmation Series that you can buy and you know what you are getting. Like the Nerds Series....Most of the boxes I purchased were the Clear Series. I had bought them because they were on sale. I thought we would probably get lots of duplicates, and we would just use them for trading. It is a better deal to buy the ones on sale and use them as trades, then going to the park and buying them at full price. We did get some duplicates...I had a sad face because we ended up really liking what the Clear Series looked liked and hoped we would end up with a full set. A full set has 12 Vinylmations in it. We did ended up with 9 and only 3 duplicates! That is pretty lucky. What isn't lucky is that I didn't get the hot pink one. I was pretty sad about that. It was the only one I really wanted! Cody and I had a friendly competition while opening the mystery boxes. We played the card game "war" to determine who would open a box next. (I know we are dorks! This is what we do on Friday nights! lol) Doing it this way kept us from opening the boxes in 2 seconds like a kid on Christmas morning!!! It made it more exciting. Here is a photo of what we ended up...I ordered more Vinylmations from the Clear Series this morning before they sell out! We only have 3 more that we need to complete the full set! *fingers crossed* Also, it will give us trades for our next trip to Disney!

Design Board - Vintage Modern Nursery

Kimberly from Custom Nursery Art contacted me in need of some help! She is having her own baby, so instead of designing stuff for other people, she needs a design for herself! She loves the color scheme: Pink, Gray & Yellow! She also loves the color Turquoise, but was afraid if she used all these colors it may be a bit to much. Well, I never believe you can have to MUCH COLOR!!! You just have to find a way to make it work! The Design Board I came up with for Kimberly has touches of vintage items and of course anything I design has to have MODERN. Here is what I came up with...

This design was tricky for me. I was determined to make it work! I started by visiting Kimberly's blog and looking at her nursery inspiration posts. I saw that she is drawn to striped walls. I found the picture of a room with gray and white painted stripes and thought of her right away. She could even just do this on one wall or if she wanted the ceiling.


The solid gray room above belongs to Erika Brechtel from Small Shop Studio. If Kimberly hasn't seen this nursery yet, she will fall in love with it! I saw the mirror and thought it would be great for Kimberly's Nursery. I don't know how she will feel about painting a vintage dresser pink, but I saw this one and I fell in love with the idea.


One thing Kimberly said she really wanted in her nursery was pattern. I saw the turquoise curtains and fell in love. It would give her a great pop of color! I thought a great way for her to pull her color scheme together would simply be frame fabric or scrapbook paper. Again, it would add more pattern! Kimberly is very creative! I think she will have a wonderful nursery once she gets all her ideas together and starts decorating.

BLOG MAKEOVER

I designed a new blog look this week for Simply Aaronni. I am very happy with how the design turned out. Aaronni wanted her blog to have a simple look, her favorites colors and personality. For me it was all about picking out some really neat fonts for her header!

4 Movies

I haven't been watching as many movies as I used to. I can never find any that interest me anymore! Here are 4 Movies I have watched in the last few months...



1. The Other Guys - Horrible. Not funny at all. I was very disappointed. Will Ferrel and Donnie Wahlberg were in it. I hoped it would be funny since I like both of them. I was wrong! 1 Star

2. All Good Things - This movie is very dark and depressing. The acting was good but I hated the story. It was strange seeing Ryan Gosling as a bad guy. He played it well. 2.5 Stars

3. The Pirates of the Caribbean 4 - Cody and I did go see the new Pirates movie. I still haven't decided if I liked it or not. It was strange not having all the same characters in it. I understand it is a whole new story line, so that is why. I do not like Penelope Cruz. I hated having to watch her on the big screen. Overall it was entertaining just like the other movies, but it is not my favorite. 3 Stars

4. Unthinkable - Disturbing. I hated it. I couldn't even finish watching it. 1 Star
